Charlotte is trying to feed her one-and-one-half year old daughter, Zoe, breakfast in her high chair. She has cut a banana into tiny pieces and is handing her daughter the pieces.

Charlotte: Why don't you eat bananas? You used to love bananas.

Zoe shakes her head.

Zoe: No want nanas.

Charlotte: Just a taste.

Zoe: No want.

Charlotte: Here, I'll mash it for you. It's yummy. Isn't it?

Zoe clamps her mouth shut.

Charlotte: You've got to eat. How are you going to grow if you don't eat?

Zoe throws the bananas on the floor.

Charlotte: Don't you do that.

Zoe shakes her head no.

Charlotte: Okay. Okay. We'll try something else. You have to eat. Here, here are Cheerios. You want them with milk?

Zoe nods.

Charlotte: Okay, here. I'll feed you some. Open up your mouth. Here comes the food, here it comes. (Charlotte puts the Cheerios on a spoon and tries to feed Zoe.)

Zoe takes a bite and spits out the Cheerios.

Charlotte: Zoe if you don't eat, you're not going to go to the park this morning because you won't have enough energy to play. Now eat this food. I'm not giving you anything else.

Zoe shakes her head.

Charlotte: Come on. I don't like to waste food. God made this food and we need to appreciate it. Now eat. You're not going to have any ice cream later if you don't eat your Cheerios.

Zoe: Ice cream. Ice cream.

Charlotte: No. No ice cream. You've got to eat some breakfast.

Zoe starts climbing out of her high chair.

Charlotte: Just eat something. Please. Now get back into that high chair. After you eat, we'll go to the park. Now sit while I feed you.

Zoe starts to cry.

Charlotte: We're not leaving until you eat something. Just let me feed you something.

She tries to push the spoon into Zoe's mouth. Zoe keeps crying. Charlotte turns and opens the refrigerator to look for something else for Zoe to eat. While her back is turned, Zoe climbs out of the high chair.

Charlotte: Why do you have to always give me a hard time? There's got to be an easier way!
